Direct Trade are Document Q Compliant

Direct Trade, one of the UK’s leading trade fabricators of windows, doors and conservatories, now offer a range of PVCu and Aluminium products – the most recent being the Low Aluminium Threshold French Door – that are fully Document Q compliant.

Steve Green, Managing Director explains “Effective from October 2015, the amended Document Q of the Building Regulations sets enhanced security performance requirements in the UK on all external doorsets and windows intended to offer a level of security suitable for dwellings and other buildings exposed to comparable risk. This applies to all new dwellings, including flats, built in England and means all new windows and doorsets installed in new dwellings will now have to have proven security performance as a result of Document Q.

“This means that all new dwellings where either the plans or a building notice haven’t been submitted before 1st October 2015 will need to comply with the regulation. And, all new dwellings where the work starts after 1st October 2016, will need to comply, regardless of when the plans or building notice was submitted.

“We are keen to instil confidence in our customers and assure them that we can offer a wide range of products that are now fully compliant with the new legislation. As their supplier, it is our job to make their lives easier.

“In addition to this, we are also able to offer ‘Secured By Design’ certified windows and doors to our trade customers nationwide.”
